Workshop Description:
Accountability is one of the most underdeveloped skills in clinical work, yet it is essential for creating safer, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive therapeutic relationships.
This 1-hour virtual training provides mental health professionals with practical, accessible tools to incorporate accountability into their practice—both in direct client work and within organizational or systemic roles.
Participants will leave with concrete, grounding strategies that can be immediately integrated into supervision, client sessions, team dynamics, and clinical documentation.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
• Identify 3 core components of accountability in therapeutic and clinical practice.
• Explore 2 ways accountability increases safety and reduces harm.
• Learn 2 applicable strategies for integrating accountability into client sessions.
• Develop 2 trauma-informed questions to support accountability in supervision and team communication.

Target Audience
LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, LEPs, and interns (with supervisor’s letter).
Van Ethan Levy is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.
Van Ethan Levy maintains responsibility for this course and its contents.
This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of CE as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Certificates are awarded after the completion of all instructional time and a completed evaluation.

Van Ethan Levy (they | elle), LMFT & LPCC
Trans, non binary, autistic, Latinx, Jewish, Egyptian, disabled, socialized as female, therapist, advocate, educator, author, and community-builder.
Van has over 20 years of experience supporting LGBTQPIA2S+ communities. They are the:
• Executive Director of Do Something: Identity(ies) 501(c)(3)
• Founder of Van Ethan Levy
• Founder of No More Gatekeeping (national provider list supporting access to life-saving care)
They are also the creator of the interactive book Exploring My Identity(ies) and the award-winning documentary Do Something: Trans & Non Binary Identities.
Van directed the 2 Do Something: Identity(ies) conference, leads community-based education initiatives, and consults nationally and internationally with schools, hospitals, non-profits, and government agencies. In their full-time role, they serve as the Director of Behavioral Health at Transgender Health & Wellness Center, advocating for affirming, identity-centered, accessible care.
Their curriculum and trainings are used across the U.S. and globally. Van is committed to expanding access to accountable, trauma-informed, identity-affirming care for LGBTQPIA2S+ folx.
