Therapy: Meet Savannah

This image contains a pale white person facing in the camera with open mouth smiling with her arms crossed over her chest, wearing a brown knitted sweater with a V-neck. She has rosy cheeks, medium-length brown hair draping the tops of her shoulders, squinted brown eyes, a silver hoop nose ring, and a silver necklace, standing in front of a duck pond and tall, green trees, behind the person shades of greens, browns, blues, and shimmers of white light reflecting off the pond water.

I am a cis, white, pansexual, neurodivergent therapist providing virtual, affirming therapy in California. My approach to therapy is informed by my own lived experiences, along with the valuable insights I’ve gained from peers, mentors, and clients over time. With an educational background in Sociology and Psychology, I am guided by Feminist, multicultural, holistic, and social justice-oriented perspectives. It is my belief that most of the mental and emotional distress we experience can be traced back to the harms caused by oppressive systems like capitalism, the patriarchy, racism and more.

In therapy, I invite clients to show up however they feel most comfortable and authentically themselves. Whether you’re in your pajamas, nourishing yourself with food or a beverage, or sitting in your parked car; virtual sessions provide more flexibility than traditional in-person therapy. Our sessions may involve processing difficult experiences, recognizing the context in which you exist, reflecting on where you feel the most empowered/disempowered in your life, exploring different aspects of your identity with curiosity and compassion, and reclaiming your story’s narrative. I welcome humor in the therapy space because I believe joy is one of the most radical forms of resistance against oppressive forces. I do not utilize any AI tools in my clerical work, all of my documentation is recorded manually.

Personally, I am very snack-motivated, curious, and I feel happiest when I’m at home with my 2 cats. As a nostalgic toy-enthusiast, I love Bratz dolls, Tamagotchis, and Pokémon cards. I enjoy playing video games whenever I get the chance, and I am very interested in the possibility of incorporating video games into therapy someday. When I’m not in session I’m probably gaming, cooking, creating, visiting friends, spending time with my partner, or playing with the kitties.
