Aba Horthy (they/elle) is a queer multicultural non binary AuDHD therapist who creates a nonjudgmental space for their clients and has a passion for helping clients (re)connect with their authentic selves. Born in Hungary, Aba grew up living there while simultaneously living in the Dominican Republic and the US for most of their life, spent long periods in Panama and they finally settled in the US. Aba has also done years of charity work in Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Guinea. Aba understands issues of human rights, immigration, racism, inequality as well as cultural barriers and internalized shame around queer sexuality and identity. 

 

Aba’s main focuses are on the trans and non binary experience, AuDHD, autism, complex trauma, chronic illnesses especially POTS, EDS, Arthritis & Fibromyalgia, disability and grief. Aba has clinical and personal experiences regarding their specializations. They have a deep capacity for working with trauma and supporting clients who think their story is “too heavy” for people to be present with. 

 

They will create a safer environment and affirm your experiences. Aba is here to help you find and express your authentic self, help heal complex trauma, manage AuDHD, autism, chronic illnesses and more. Aba utilizes a range of modalities such as queer narrative, feminist, LGBTQIA+ affirmative, BIPOC affirmative, EMDR, IFS, attachment based and other forms of therapy that fits their client’s needs.  Aba also writes medical letters. 

 

Aba is deeply empathetic, just like their clients. Aba believes in you, sees you for who you are and will celebrate and elevate your authentic self. They also speak Spanish and Hungarian. They firmly believe that everyone can enhance their life quality and heal. They also have a background in acting, writing, and producing and understand the challenges of the industry.

A graduate from Antioch University, Aba served as their LGBTQ+ Affirmative specialization program assistant where they were tasked with building community and cohesion in the specialization. Aba also previously provided services at COLORS LGBTQ Youth Counseling Services for gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and non binary teens and young adults from ages 12-26.
